Introduction to Social Awareness

Understand how being socially aware makes you smooth.

What is Social Awareness?

And how will it

make me smooth?

Have you ever met someone who seems to always know what to say and just seems to "get" you? that person is socially aware. Social awareness is the ability to understand the needs and perspectives of others from diverse backgrounds and cultures (LaRocca, 2019). When you understand differences, it makes it easier for you to understand the intent of others. That makes communication clearer.

Social awareness also indicates you understand norms for behavior (LaRocca, 2019). That means you do what is socially expected in a variety of situations.  No more awkward moments!
