About

Hi! I'm Sue Suarez, the creator and ​designer of this website. 

I am a doctoral student at New Jersey City University. I also ane lead English teacher at University Academy Charter High School, a small urban public charter school located in Jersey City, NJ. I designed this website as the school finds itself incorporating the NJ State Social-Emotional Literacy (NJSEL) standards​ throughout the curriculum.

 

Ideally, the website can be used as a review or as an introduction to concepts of social awareness, one of the NJSEL's standards. Students can work independently and at their own pace to explore the substandards. Although we live in a digital age, students must still learn to interact with one another. Therefore, consider this a digital tool using a variety of technology-based interactions to enhance the students in real life (IRL).

This website is a tool for SEL and not a replacement for the consistent practice needed to unlearn old habits and acquire new ones. Please check out the resources and references section for ideas.
